Wow, am I ever going to miss Botswana. This truly has been one of the most authentic, challenging, beautiful, and rewarding adventures. An experience that has given me both personal and academic benefits. Personally, I’ve become someone who is no longer afraid to be alone, even on the other side of the world. Being away from home for an extended time has taught me to never take what you have for granted, and to be appreciative. I made tons of life long friends that I know I will continue to stay in touch with for years to come. The people in Gaborone are what make it awesome. Academically, I have a new perspective on life and different cultures. I also learned how to work in less than ideal conditions and how to make the best of what I was given. Making my own success was tough, but a great skill I can practice throughout life.

Although it is the end of my time in Botswana, it is the beginning of something new. A path that includes all the diverse and unique skills I gained while in Africa. Taking my knowledge and putting it to good use at home and in other parts of the world. It has sparked excitement and curiosity for new career ideas and opportunities. This experience has opened my eyes to all possibilities and given me the reassurance that I can do anything I put my mind to.
I feel so lucky and humbled to be apart of this community, and so fortunate to have received this scholarship, as it changed my life. I want to say a huge thank you to all the incredible individuals and organizations who have supported me through this journey. Such as SportWORKS, The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship, The Commonwealth Games, and Mount Royal University.
I will always remember this trip and be forever thankful for all it has brought me.
