Spring is just around the corner and things are starting to look up for our project in Hamilton. Restrictions are slowly being lifted and we have developed partnerships over the last month with some strong local and provincial organizations. These organizations have been wonderful to work and collaborate with in all areas.
I am very excited to see everything come together at this crucial time. The newcomer girl participants are also very excited and are ready to jump in and learn about a variety of sports including, but not limited to, soccer, basketball, badminton, and volleyball. I am also very excited to use my previous experience as a coach to help facilitate these programs through our volunteers by giving them the tools to create a wonderful atmosphere for the newcomer girls to thrive.
Forecasting for these events has been a great learning experience for me personally, allowing me to try a variety of different ways to be creative during a difficult time. It has also helped to have a wonderful host partner and great colleagues that have given me amazing insight.
Our first event will be soccer and volleyball will be the next sport to be introduced. We hope to assist the girls with developing their skills and making sure they enjoy themselves while doing so. This is a chance for them to be active while meeting new people and creating amazing connections. At the end of all of our events we will also have a big send off.
