As 2022 begins, I am excited to start planning events. Our newest obstacle is the restriction put in place in Ontario.
Currently, all programs are being delivered virtually. This is a slight setback, but does give us all time to reflect. I am using this to grow the soccer program already in place. I want to make sure that the girls who already are part of the program return, and the ones who are interested in participating get a chance to do so.
My goal over the next month is to plan at least one small event. A “Sports Day” where children and their families can come and participate in variety of sports. These sports will be presented at an introductory level. I will determine which sports will be introduced by using the focus group data previously collected.
Having a structured plan for an event like this is key. As a youth coach and a former program coordinator, my previous skills will come in handy here with planning. Once the restrictions are lifted I will have the chance to conduct an in person evaluation of the program.
I am excited for what I can bring to the Host organization in Hamilton. The staff have been amazing during this difficult time. They have kept the children’s spirits high and engaged. I feel like we will be successful when all is said and done!
