Dumela (Hi) from Gaborone, Botswana, where everyone says hi and greets one another with smiles and laughter on the streets.
It is crazy to think that Paul and I arrived here in Gaborone only 3 weeks ago, the little time we have spent here has really flown by. At first, we were both nervous but as soon as we got settled in the nerves soon turned to excitement! Within the first week, we met with the whole BNOC (Botswana National Olympic Committee) staff and BRU (Botswana Rugby Union) Development Manager, who we will be working alongside creating and implementing a Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) program for rugby as our main focus. Another project we received was to also finish an implementation guide for BTA (Botswana Tennis Association). After meeting the BTA Development Manager, we have been able to start full force on finishing their guide.
So far we have met so many amazing people from all over the world by playing frisbee twice a week and going out and exploring Gaborone more. This past weekend, we went out to an amazing outdoor restaurant called Bull and Bush after frisbee to hang out and meet some more people.
Saturday and Sunday were filled with many amazing last minute plans of brunch at Sanitas, game drives on the Mokolodi reserve where we saw 5 rhinos in the same area which is extremely rare, then tackling Kgale Hill with some of our new friends.
This still feels like a dream to be here helping and learning more every day, I could not be more grateful and excited for what will come next!
Till next time,
Savannah
