Dumela! (Hello)
The first blog post, where do I even start..
After a 40 hour travel day through Frankfurt and Johannesburg, we finally made it! Botswana is such a beautiful country and everyone we have met so far are incredibly nice! We are getting into the swing of things with The Botswana National Olympic Committee. Over the next couple of months we will be working on evaluating the BLTAD’s (Botswana Long-Term Athlete Development) put in place for 11 National sport federations. We will have a lot to do but I am very excited to get started!
On our days off we are exploring what this beautiful country has to offer. We have tried out a few local food vendors, explored various markets and shops and are made it all the way up Kgale hill. Each day Botswana is starting to feel more and more like home… Except for the heat! (+32 most days). We are constantly being warned that its is still “cold” out and it will get much hotter.
There are many holidays happening when we are here. Just recently passed was “Botswana Day”. For being a national holiday it is quite interesting because everyone seems to leave the country! Lindsay and I decided to hop on the bandwagon and go to Cape Town, South Africa for the holiday! Cape Town is such an amazing place but the heat doesn’t compare to Gaborone..
I can’t wait to start meeting with the National federations while also exploring more of Botswana.
Cheers,
Adriane
