I look back at these eight months and wonder where did the time go. It has truly been a pleasure to meet and work with so many great people over the course of my time as a SportWORKS Officer. I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with so many inspiring people. I can truly say this was an opportunity of a lifetime for me. The youth of Hamilton are a shining beacon to the future of the community. The perseverance and dedication to represent themselves and the community has been great to see. Their nonstop enthusiasm and friendliness made this job so easy. The willingness to try new sports and learn new skills while encouraging others was something to behold. It was a pleasure to watch these new youth leaders growth to the full potential.
I want to thank my supervisor and mentor Ryan Pelley for supporting me throughout my duration in Hamilton. I’d also like to thank my counterpart at the YMCA Hamilton, Aisha Shariff. Aisha has developed a strong bound between the youth through all of Hamilton. YMCA Hamilton Youth Centre manager Edgar Hernandez gave me every opportunity to create and function at a higher level as a partner with the organization. I also want to thank Brian from the Commonwealth Games Association of Canada, for allowing myself and our youth to participate in the Queen’s Baton Relay.
The success of the program was also achieved by working with great partners. Thank you to Volleyball Ontario, Badminton Ontario, McMaster University, and Basketball Ontario. These organization were a great help to S4N Hamilton to develop a strong bond in the community.
It has been a true pleasure working with everyone and being a part of S4N Hamilton. This has truly been a life changing experience for me. Thank you for the amazing memories.
