Luke again. It has been a few weeks since my last post and I figure it was time to post a quick update on what has been going on over here. On the work side, since last we spoke we have had two more site visits. Team Scotland came two weeks ago and a representative from Team Barbados came just this past week for a couple days. Geordie led the charge in organizing their itineraries as Scotland and Barbados are two of the countries he is responsible for managing. Everything went very well so clearly he did a great job! Mike Guy, whom Geordie and I work under, was nice enough to take us with him when he went with Team Scotland to Compass Point. Compass Point is a nice little hotel bar and restaurant on the water on the west end of the island. I’ll add a picture so you can get a sense of how impressive the view was. Elenor and Colin (Scotland’s representatives) seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves as they sampled some Bahemian drinks.

Gail, a representative from Team Barbados visited us a week letter. This was another great visit as everything went off without a hitch and we had a dinner at Luciano’s to finish her visit.

On the personal side, we were lucky enough to be invited by Romell to ferry to Eleuthera, a nearby island, to attend his grandson’s christening. That was a heck of an experience. We took a beautiful ferry across the turquoise waters and landed on a quaint little island about 2 hours later. After driving south for 15 minutes, we made a stop at the Glass Window Bridge. We were told that this bridge is a separator between the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea. It was amazing to see the contrast between the deep blue ocean and the bright waters of the Caribbean. Romell even mentioned that sometimes they experience a “surge,” which is when the waters rise to above the bridge! We met a lot of awesome people this weekend and were even invited back by Romell’s good friend who lives on the island. I guess they just can’t resist our Canadian charm..

Moving forward we will be working towards finalizing the re-allocation policy for countries who wish to send additional athletes. It is definitely getting busier on the island!
